We have finished the final week of minor league baseball for both Aberdeen and Delmarva, yet we still have one more week for Bowie and Norfolk.

While it sucks to see minor league baseball end soon, it’s still time to discuss players that showed out this past week for the final time this season.

Without any further ado, here are your O’s Prospects of the Week.

Delmarva Shorebirds: Fernando Peguero – UTIL / Blake Money – RHP

This is actually the first time that we have mentioned Fernando Peguero all season in any article.

Peguero had himself an amazing week, slashing .444/.546/.722 with a 1.268 OPS. He collected eight hits, one double, two triples and knocked in five RBIs. He also walked four times and stole five bases in five attempts.

Peguero has bounced around the organization all season. He played most of the season in rookie ball but also had a small time in Triple-A Norfolk. He’s had a solid season with a .669 OPS, slashing .260/.341/.328 and collecting 50 hits, six doubles, two triples, one home run and 26 RBIs while stealing 37 bases in 44 attempts.

As for the pitching side of things, Blake Money grabbed a win while throwing five shutout innings, walking only two and striking out seven.

Money has been, well, money this year. In 25 games and 14 starts, all with Delmarva, Money had a 4-7 record with a 3.15 ERA in 103 innings of work.

The 22-year-old right-hander gave up 84 hits, 36 earned runs, walked 25 batters and struck out 119 of them.

Aberdeen IronBirds: Ethan Anderson – C / Zach Fruit – RHP

The 2024 draft class just loves to show out each and every week. This includes catcher Ethan Anderson, who has been stellar to watch this season.

This week, Anderson put together a .353/450/.412 slash line with a .862 OPS. He had six hits, one double and an RBI, stealing three bases and walking three times.

Anderson has had a great start to his professional career. He finished his first 19 games with a .800 OPS while batting .288, tallying 21 hits, four doubles, two triples, one home run and scoring 12 RBIs.

Zach Fruit didn’t only have an amazing week. He achieved a huge accomplishment in the process.

Fruit still had a great start, giving up two earned runs in four innings while still striking out seven. But that was put on the back burner this week.

Fruit won the South Atlantic League ERA title for the 2024 season. His 3.03 ERA in 25 games and 21 starts was the lowest in the SAL for a pitcher who threw at least 105 innings. Fruit threw 107 innings and struck out 113 batters in the process.

Bowie Baysox: Dylan Beavers – OF / Cameron Weston – RHP

Usually, beavers are really good at chipping wood. But this week, Dylan Beavers was good at swinging the wood with power.

Beavers slashed .300/.364/.850 for a 1.214 OPS and had six hits, one triple, three home runs, including two in one game, and knocked home five RBIs.

Beavers has put together a .756 OPS while having a .342 OBP but is only hitting .238. He has 98 hits, 17 doubles, five triples and 15 homers and has also walked 65 times and stolen 30 bases in 33 attempts.

Cameron Weston put together a few career-highs this past week in his Saturday start.

He pitched a career-high six innings of shutout baseball while striking out a Double-A career-best nine batters.

Weston has had solid season that has not been talked about enough. He has a 2.83 ERA in 26 games and 17 starts and has been putting up some incredible control numbers, walking just 30 batters all season in 103 innings. He has also struck out 125 batters.

Norfolk Tides: Niko Goodrum – UTIL / Trevor Rogers – LHP

The likes of Jud Fabian and Samuel Basallo being in Norfolk has Birdland anxious to see them these articles. For the final week, though, the honor belongs to a non-prospect player who currently has a 15-game on-base streak.

Niko Goodrum went 10-for-22 (.455 avg), including three home runs, one being a walk-off grand slam, and 14 RBIs this past week. He picked up six walks, stole two bases and scored six runs as well.

In 42 games with the Tides, Goodrum is slashing .297/.372/.476/.848 with four home runs, 28 RBIs, 14 runs scored and six stolen bases. With Jorge Mateo out for the season and Jordan Westburg still not back, Goodrum, who has big league experience, could be someone to keep an eye on as the Birds head towards the postseason.

I can see people scratching their heads on this, but the reason Rodgers makes our Pitcher of the Week is the steps he’s taken forward.

In his most recent start, he completed 6.2 innings, allowing three earned runs (a quality start) while walking just one and striking out nine batters. Rodgers completed his outing with 100 pitches (63 strikes) and has turned in back-to-back quality starts, dropping his ERA almost 13 points across his three starts.

Rodgers also appears to have improved command, as he has totaled just three walks across three starts while striking out 16 batters.
