After Saturday’s tough loss to the Colorado Rockies, it was announced that the Baltimore Orioles have signed right-hander Adrian Houser to a minor league deal.

The eight-year veteran will be joining his third team of the year after recently being placed on waivers by the Chicago Cubs and being released from the New York Mets back at the trade deadline.

This year has not been the greatest for the 31-year-old, as he has compiled a 5.84 ERA in 23 games and seven starts. Houser has pitched 69.1 innings, given up 74 hits, 45 earned runs, eight home runs, has walked 32 batters and has struck out 45.

Houser has pitched one other year where he carried an ERA over five, and that was the COVID 2020 season when he carried a 5.30 ERA.

His career 4.21 ERA is semi-promising with how the injuries have been this season, and the Birds are kind of entering an all hands on deck type of situation.

Houser being signed looks like a move for the September stretch as a bullpen option or possible spot starter, depending on the situation. He would have to be added to the 40-man roster in order to pitch for the big league club.
