We knew it had to happen eventually. For the late-night start time haters, eat your heart out.
This week, the O’s begin a week-long West Coast road trip by kicking things off with three games against the Seattle Mariners, a team the Birds took two of three from just a month and a half ago.
As always, it is a test when having to face the Mariners and their starting rotation. Luckily for the O’s, there will be some good arms on the mound for the orange and black as well.
Grayson Rodriguez (9-3, 3.72 ERA) will battle George Kirby (7-5, 3.35 ERA) in game one. Games two and three will feature the match-ups of TBD ( likely Corbin Burnes) vs. Logan Gilbert (5-4, 2.72 ERA), and TBD ( – , ERA) vs. Bryce Miller (6-7, 3.88 ERA).
The Orioles’ offense comes into this first series of July following what was a historic June. In total, the club smashed 60 home runs in the month, aided by 13 from Anthony Santander.
ROSTER MOVES
Prior to the start of this series, the Orioles reinstated right-hander Corbin Burnes from the paternity list and optioned left-hander Matt Krook to Triple-A Norfolk.
Also, it was announced that the O’s have signed right-hander Vinny Nittoli to a minor league deal. The 33-year-old has pitched to a 2.25 ERA seven games with the Oakland Athletics this season.
BATTERY ❌️-FACTOR
Our BATTERY ❌️-FACTOR in this series will be the O’s bats’ ability to capitalize on hitting with runners in scoring position.
All three starters for the Mariners are above average in keeping the ball in the yard, with an offense of their own that has trouble scoring runs.
If the O’s are constantly leaving runners on-base and letting these pitchers get out of jams, these will be three very tough and close games to win, as that is the Mariners’ specialty.
GAME 1 STARTING LINEUP
This series kicks off Tuesday night at 9:40 p.m. EST on MASN2. Games two and three will begin at 10:10 p.m. EST and 4:10 p.m. EST, respectively. You can catch each game on MASN2 or on your local Orioles Radio Network station.
