“Hell Month” is almost over, and there is a day off floating on the horizon.
First, however, the Baltimore Orioles look for some slight revenge against the Texas Rangers in a four-game set to wrap up June.
Last time these two teams met, we know how it went. This time around, things are a little different. Both clubs come in on a cold streak, with the O’s snapping their five-game losing streak on Wednesday and the Rangers heading in after a sweep by the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Orioles will begin this series with their ace, Corbin Burnes (8-3, 2.35 ERA). Following Burnes will be Albert Suárez (3-2, 2.70 ERA), Cade Povich (0-2, 4.15 ERA) and finally, Cole Irvin (6-4, 3.74 ERA).
Opposing the Oriole starters will be Jon Gray (3-3, 3.03 ERA), Max Scherzer (1-0, 3.03 ERA), Michael Lorenzen (4-3, 3.04 ERA) and lastly, Andrew Heaney (2-9, 4.17 ERA).
Someone to watch this series will be Gunnar Henderson. You should be watching him every series. However, Henderson is entering this set reaching base safely in his last 33 games. He also hit the Rangers very well in that playoff series, going 6-for-12 with a home run.
BATTERY ❌️-FACTOR
The BATTERY ❌️-FACTOR in this series will be the Orioles’ ability to hit the Rangers’ bullpen.
Texas’ bullpen has the fifth worst ERA in the majors, as well as the fourth worst on the road. On the flip side, the O’s offense should thrive in this situation, as they do their best hitting in innings seven through nine.
In those innings, the O’s offense has scored 32% of their total runs on the year and have a collective OPS+ of 139. If the bats can do enough to knock the Ranger starters out of the game, it will better their chances of securing a series victory.
GAME 1 STARTING LINEUP
This four-game series begins on Thursday evening at 6:35 p.m. EST. You can catch this game and Friday’s game, a 7:05 start time, on MASN. Games three and four will be primetime showdowns, with game three beginning at 7:15 p.m. EST on FOX, and game four beginning at 7:10 p.m. EST for Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN.
