Let the festivities begin, Birdland, as the Holliday season is coming.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Baltimore Orioles intend to call up the top prospect in all of baseball, infielder Jackson Holliday.

Many in Birdland were upset when Holliday was re-assigned to Triple-A Norfolk after having an exceptional spring.

The 20-year-old Holliday was slashing .333/.482/.595 across 10 games with Norfolk. He has hit two home runs among his 14 total hits, seven for extra bases.  Holliday has collected nine RBIs and scored 18 runs while walking 12 times to eight strikeouts.

Holliday, the top overall prospect in baseball, was transitioning from shortstop to second base, part of the reason he was sent to Norfolk to start the season.

The lefty-hitting infielder climbed through four minor league levels in his first full professional season. Holliday raked at a .323/.442/.499 clip over 581 plate appearances last season.

The Orioles are still eligible to receive a first-round draft pick via the Prospect Promotion Incentive if Jackson Holliday wins AL Rookie of the Year this season, according to Passan.

At this time, no corresponding roster move has been announced, but this story will be updated when that information has been released by the organization.

We would like to welcome Holliday to The Show. Birdland will surely be excited to follow your growth as a big leaguer.
