The Baltimore Orioles have a volunteer program, Orange Black Gives Back, that provides volunteer services around the community. On November 3, the Orange Black Gives Back partnered with the Maryland Food Bank.

Volunteers helped pack boxes with holiday meals that would be delivered to food insecure families across the state of Maryland. This event is known as the “Pack to Give Back.”

“Pack to Give Back” is an annual series of Maryland Food Bank events that bring together community agencies and corporate partners to pack holiday meals in every county the food bank serves, ensuring a joyful holiday season for more than 12,000 Maryland families that might otherwise go without.

Each box contains traditional holiday fixings like cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and stuffing. Each will be paired with a turkey and distributed later this month.

United Concordia and the Baltimore Orioles also donated $10,000 to the Maryland Food Bank to help with the event.

The Orange and Black Gives Back includes current Orioles players and coaches, top prospects, minor league affiliates, broadcasters, members of the front office, Orioles Alumni and the Oriole Bird participating in the service projects.

Each Orioles minor league affiliate, the Norfolk Tides, Bowie BaySox, Aberdeen IronBirds and Delmarva Shorebirds, will complete service projects in their communities. The Orioles will complete and host projects in Baltimore, Frederick, Boca Chica, Dominican Republic, as well.

The primary focus of Orange and Black Gives Back is strengthening the community as well as empowering youth. Their philanthropic efforts include volunteering, donating and inviting community members to Camden Yards to be recognized for their efforts in the community.

Orange and Black Gives Back empowers Baltimore youth by donating to local youth-focused programs, inviting youth to the ballpark for educational opportunities and promoting the game of baseball throughout the city.
