The Arizona Fall League is halfway finished, and the Orioles had a pair of pitchers represent the organization in the Arizona Fall League All-Star Game. Those pitchers are left-hander Trey McGough and right-hander Carter Baumler.

McGough, 25, just finished his fourth year in the minor leagues. Drafted out of Mount St Mary’s in 2019 by the Pirates, McGough became a part of the Orioles organization on December 7, 2022, when the Triple-A Norfolk Tides claimed him off waivers from the Indianapolis Indians.

McGough’s first year with Baltimore consisted of seven games when he held a 3.05 ERA in 20.2 innings pitched. He gave up 12 hits, seven earned runs, walked 11 batters and struck out 22, as he held batters to a .169 batting average while also compiling a WHIP of 1.11.

In seven games in the AFL, McGough has a 1-1 record with a 3.00 ERA in nine innings pitched. He has given up seven hits, three earned runs, walked three batters and struck out 12, holding batters to a .194 batting average.

McGough would pitch an inning in relief during the All-Star Game, giving up a single and then striking out the next two batters to pitch a shutout inning (the second out was a caught stealing).

Baumler, 21, was also invited to the All-Star Game but was not able to participate. The Orioles’ No. 22 prospect has pitched in three games this AFL season and has a 4.50 ERA in 10 innings pitched.
