The Orioles are gearing up to head back to the West Coast, but before that, they must face off with the Chicago White Sox for a three-game series from Oriole Park and Camden Yards.
The Orioles took the first series against the White Sox back in April, two games to one. This time around, the Orioles hope to keep up that dominance and maybe even go for a sweep in their home ballpark.
On the mound for the O’s looking to accomplish this feat will be Grayson Rodriguez (3-3, 5.38 ERA), Dean Kremer (12-5, 4.31 ERA) and Kyle Gibson (13-7, 4.89 ERA).
For Chicago, it will be Michael Kopech (5-11, 4.95 ERA), Jesse Scholtens (1-6, 4.15 ERA) and Dylan Cease (5-7, 4.81 ERA).
The Birds are in a good position with these three arms for this series. Since being re-called from Triple-A, Rodriguez has been stellar. He has allowed no more than four runs in any outing since July 17, has 35 strikeouts in those seven games and has pitched six innings or more in three.
The offense definitely needs to pick it back up on this last leg of the homestand. In the last series against the Rockies, the offense could only muster up 13 runs in those three games.
BATTERY ❌️-FACTOR
With that being said, our BATTERY ❌️-FACTOR has nothing to do with that. Actually, for this series, it is the O’s new closer Yennier Canó.
Of course, we all know the team is without Félix Bautista for the foreseeable future. Can Canó replicate Bautista’s dominance? Not quite, but the team’s success for this last span of time ultimately rests upon his right arm.
With all the close games the Orioles play, having Canó pitch as close to his April/May self will be the key to winning not only this series but the final month of baseball in the regular season.
