Today has been a day filled with different moves and some different news that affects the Orioles organization. These moves include prospects climbing the ladder, the waiver wire and the O’s broadcast team.

PROSPECT MOVES

First, let’s talk about the different prospect moves made. Earlier today, it was announced that five players are being moved from the FCL Orioles roster up to the Low-A Delmarva Shorebirds. All the players were recently selected in the 2023 MLB Draft, and all will get their first true experience with professional baseball at the minor league level.

Those players include:

  • First-Round Pick: Enrique Bradfield Jr.
  • Second-Round Pick: Mac Horvath
  • Third-Round Pick: Tavian Joseberger
  • 10th-Round Pick: Matthew Etzel
  • 20th-Round Pick: Jalen Vasquez

The big name on this list is none other than former Vanderbilt outfielder Enrique Bradfield Jr., who in his nine at-bats with the FCL team collected five hits and put together a 1.334 OPS.

BIG LEAGUE ROSTER MOVES

The next piece of news is the newest player to join the Orioles 40-man roster. Former Angels right-hander Jacob Webb was claimed off waivers today by the Orioles.

Webb, who turns 30 later this month, has pitched in 29 games this season and is 1-1 with a 3.98 ERA. He has pitched 31.2 innings and has compiled 34 strikeouts and one save.

In addition to this acquisition, right-hander Austin Voth has been transferred to the 60-Day IL as he still deals with right elbow discomfort. Voth has not pitched in an MLB game since June 13 and was recently on rehab assignments with the club’s minor league affiliates.

RUMOR MILL

Fans have been wondering where O’s head broadcast announcer Kevin Brown has been on the MASN broadcasts. Multiple sources announced earlier on Monday that Brown has been suspended about comments he made about the team during the Rays series a few weeks ago.

While we do not know the whole story, a statement was made by a senior Orioles official to The Baltimore Banner on the situation. They state:

“We don’t comment on employment decisions. However, Kevin Brown will be back with us in the near future.”
