We’re almost to the All-Star Break, but first, we have some more AL East rivalry baseball to play.

To kick off this final road trip before our All-Stars head Seattle, the Orioles will play four games in the Bronx against the Aaron-Judge-less New York Yankees.

The Birds are 3-4 against the Yankees so far this year, and they have a good chance to take the season series lead. Helping to reach that goal on the mound will be Tyler Wells, Kyle Gibson, Dean Kremer and Kyle Bradish.

A lot of the Orioles’ rotation has struggled lately, which, judging by the way this rotation seems to operate, puts them right on track for a few bounce back outings. Both Kremer and Gibson desperately need one of those, while Bradish looks to continue his dominant stretch. Bradish has allowed three runs or less in his last six starts, with 39 strikeouts in that stretch.

The O’s offense will have a tough task ahead of them as they face Domingo Germán, Clarke Schmidt, a to be determined pitcher and Luis Severino.

It will be very important for the Orioles to come out firing early in this series, as Germán will be pitching his first outing since his perfect game last week. Setting the tone early against a pitcher like that will go a long way in these four games.

BATTERY ❌️-FACTOR

That leads right into our BATTERY ❌️-FACTOR for this series. The offense, especially the top of the order bats, needs to put together better and more productive at-bats.

Key bats like Cedric Mullins, Adley Rutschman, Anthony Santander and Ryan O’Hearn have all been slumping recently, and the offense’s success lies with them. Making the Yankee pitchers work the count and bump up their pitch count will go a long way in this one.

Austin Hays may be out for the entirety of this series, so those bats need to make up for the loss of a .300+ average middle of the lineup bat.

Also, keep an eye out for Aaron Hicks. It’s his first time playing in the Bronx since being released by the Yankees back in May. Let’s see if he’ll make some noise against his former squad.
