Tonight, the Orioles look to salvage the last game of a hard-fought series against the division-leading Rays. Tampa, despite battling a season-long injury plague (star center fielder Kevin Kiermier is the latest victim, leaving last night’s game with back spasms) has won 15 of 18 and surged into 1st place in the AL East.
The O’s are certainly playing the Rays tight, thanks in no small part to solid efforts from their bullpen and the hitting of Anthony Santander and Pat Valaika.
On the mound for the Orioles is John Means, sporting an ERA so high that we will refrain from mentioning it at the present time.
The Orioles lineup for today is as follows:
1. Hanser Alberto (R) 3B
2. Anthony Santander (S) RF
3. Jose Iglesias (R) DH
4. Renato Núñez (R) 1B
5. Pat Valaika (R) 2B
6. Ryan Mountcastle (R) LF
7. Bryan Holaday (R) C
8. Andrew Velazquez (S) SS
9. Cedric Mullins (S) CF
John Means LHP
In order to be victorious, John Means needs to break out of his funk, in addition to the Orioles lineup as a whole.
First pitch is at 6:40 p.m. EST, and you can catch the game on MASN2 or on the radio at 105.7 The Fan!
Let’s Go O’s!
*Sidenote: The Orioles offense seems to be most dangerous with 2 outs and no runners on.
