The Orioles and Yankees put an end to this four-game set today, with the Birds in a position to snag the series win. Following a beautiful starting outing by LHP Keegan Akin, another young Orioles prospect gets the bump today, as RHP Dean Kremer gets his first start in the major leagues!
Being the first Israeli born player to be drafted in 2015, Kremer elected to go to school for one more year and didn’t sign with the Padres. Then in 2016, he was drafted again, this time by the Los Angeles Dodgers, before being shipped to Baltimore in the block buster Manny Machado trade.
In his minor league and fall career, Kremer has shown dominance in all stages of the majors. After coming to the Orioles organization, Kremer thrived in Bowie as a part of their 2019 playoff team, finishing that season with a 9-4 record and a 2.98 ERA.
The Orioles offense will face Masahiro Tanaka, who the Birds hit .303 against last season with eight runs scored in three games against him. The Oriole bats are coming into today hot, following a two home run game from DJ Stewart, which are ironically his only two hits of this season in 19 at-bats. But hey, hit a home run off Gerrit Cole, and everything is okay!
Without further ado, your Baltimore Orioles lineup is as follows:
1. Hanser Alberto (R) 2B
2. DJ Stewart (L) RF
3. Pedro Severino (R) DH
4. Ryan Mountcastle (R) LF
5. Rio Ruiz (L) 3B
6. Pat Valaika (R) 1B
7. Mason Williams (L) CF
8. Bryan Holaday (R) C
9. Andrew Velazquez (S) SS
SP: Dean Kremer RHP
